Book 1: How To Be An Antiracist

Wednesday evening we held the first ABC meeting to discuss Kendi’s ' How to be an antiracist ’ to address the topic of racism.

We discussed Melinda Gates' The Moment of Lift ’ and the theme of feminism, and the discussion was facilitated by Begum who is a postdoc in the Lindon Lab

Book 3: The Ungrateful Refugee: What Immigrants Never Tell You

Our next theme is Refugee, and we would be reading The Ungrateful Refugee: What Immigrants Never Tell You by DIna Nayeri . The discussion for this book would happen in about 6 weeks on Thursday 3 December at 6:30 pm

 

Book 4: The Unihabitable Earth

A reminder that we will be discussing The Uninhabitable Earth by David Wallace - Wells next week on Thursday January 28th at 6:30 pm . The discus sion will be facilitated by Jess Berry from the Harper lab.

Book 5: Tommorow Will Be Different

A reminder that this Thursday March 18th at 6:30 pm the ABC will be discussing Sarah McBride’s book “Tomorrow will be different”

Book 6: The Body Keeps The Score: Mind, Brain and Body in the Transformation of Trauma

The discussion for this book will take place during UK Mental Health Awareness week, on Thursday May 13th at 6:3 0 pm and will be facilitated by Charity from the Bulmer lab.

 

Book 7: Let It Be Morning

A book on the Israeli - Palestinian conflict, and we will be reading the novel Let it be morning by Sayed Kashua . The discussion for this book will take place Thursday September 9th at 6:30 pm and will be facilitated by Sara Pensa from the Khaled lab.

 

Book 8: The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks

We held our final book club meeting on a book looking at the history, origin and story of the HeLa cell line.
