Work from Taufiq Rahman in collaboration with Sandip Patel (UCL) and researchers in the USA has provided novel insight into the evolution of four-domain voltage-gated calcium and sodium channels (Cav, Nav) from two-domain calcium channel intermediates known as TPCs. The study, which involved molecular modeling, pharmacological characterisations, and comparative genomics, has just been published in Science Signalling with a featured cover page.
