The Department held its Pharmacology Away Day on Monday, the 22nd of September, at St. Catharine's College's McGraf Centre. This is an annual event, where research members of the Department gather to share their research and promote cooperation between groups.
The day featured nine talks, notably including a presentation by Professor Ijeoma Uchegbu, President of Wolfson College. Two external speakers were invited to present as part of the talks: Kathryn Banham and Chrys Ackroyd, from the British Pharmacological Society, and Adrian Liston as our EDI talk.
A major component of this event was our poster presentation sessions, with 18 participants. This is an opportunity for MPhil students, PhD students and Postdoctoral researchers to demonstrate their research projects to the Department. Each poster was accompanied by a one-minute flash talk, during which participants provided a brief overview of their poster to attendees.
The Away Day is also an opportunity to give well-deserved recognition to our Department members for going above and beyond in their roles. In recognition of their work, our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Committee presented their Recognition Scheme Awards. We had five winners across three categories, who were:
- Rowda Dahir, Teaching and Mentoring award
- Oneyka Awunor, Teaching and Mentoring award
- Rianne Bruty, Department Research Culture and Outreach award
- Bananapharma, Public Engagement award
Finally, we thank all our volunteers and the support staff at St. Catharine's College. Without their help, this day would not have been possible.
