The Department held two events to mark Black History Month. Please find details below:


The department graduate and postdoc committee is pleased to be collaborating with Africans in STEM on another program to celebrate Black history month...

We are hosting a virtual panel discussion titled, 'Spotlight on Black Female Scientists in Cambridge' taking place on Wednesday 21 October at 5:30 pm. The six invited speakers are Dr. Peace Atakpa, Dr. Jerelle Joseph, Dr. Odiri Eneje, Dr. Ebele Mogo, Stephanie Adeyemo and Tapoka Mkandawire. The speakers will share briefly about their work and discuss their journey in STEM and in Cambridge. The session will be moderated by Charity Bhebhe, a PhD student in the department who also serves on the graduate & postdoc committee. The department is proud to be partnering with Africans in STEM to celebrate Black History Month this year...

The department is hosting a poster exhibition curated by Africans in STEM titled, ‘Black Legacies in STEM’. The mini-exhibition highlights notable Black scientists from all over the world and can also be accessed online at www.africansinstem.co.uk. Also, on Wednesday 21 October, the department graduate and postdoc committee will be co-hosting a virtual panel discussion with Africans in STEM. The panel will spotlight a few Black female scientists in Cambridge who will be discussing a bit about their research and their journey in science. More details TBA.
