Robert Henderson (1957 – 2023) was a Professor in Macromolecular Pharmacology in the Department of Pharmacology. His research focused on single-molecule atomic force microscopy of receptors and ion channels. Robert was passionate about undergraduate teaching and had a leading role in delivering teaching across the curriculum to Medicine/Veterinary Medicine and Natural Sciences students. He was the Senior Tutor of Emmanuel College, from 2011 until 2023. In his memory, the Department of Pharmacology and Emmanuel College are offering four stipendiary summer studentships.
The studentships are open to undergraduate students of any level (1, 2 and 3 year), across the UK. Each studentship is expected to be two months long, and to run any time between 1 June 2025 - 30 September 2025. Exact start dates for the studentships will be agreed between the student and the selected laboratory leader.
The Department will provide students with a stipend for the duration of the studentship. Emmanuel College will provide accommodation at no extra cost.
The 2025 application round will open on the 1 March and the deadline for applications will be the 30 March. Students are strongly encouraged to contact PIs in the Department to discuss mutual interests.
