Research Assistant/Research Associate X 2 Human and Mouse Breast Single Cell Atlas

Applications are invited for two post-doc positions to work on a collaborative project between the laboratories of Dr. Walid Khaled (University of Cambridge), Dr. John Marioni (CRUK, CI & EMBL-EBI) and Prof. Carlos Caldas (CRUK, CI). Our laboratories have expertise in mammary gland development (Khaled W.T. et al. 2015 Nat Commun, Bach K. et al. 2017 Nat Commun), Single Cell Genomics (Ibarra-Soria X., 2018 Nat Cell Bio, Haghverdi et al. 2018 Nat Biotech., Martinez-Jimenez et al. 2017 Science) and Breast Cancer (Curtis C. et al 2012 Nature, Dvinge et al, Nature 2013, Bruna et al, Cell 2016). We are joining forces on this ambitious project to build a comprehensive Human and Mouse Breast Single Cell Atlas. We will be using scRNAseq and scATACseq to chart the cellular changes in the breast at different healthy conditions. This data will allow us to study the impact of breast cancer risk modulators such as age and parity on the normal cellular homeostasis.

Applicants should have a strong interest in developmental or cancer biology and are expected to hold or obtain shortly, a PhD in the life sciences. They must have demonstrable experience in analysing and integrating single cell genomics data. It is also desirable if the candidates have experience in cell biology and/or mouse models. The successful applicants will be careful and methodical workers, accurate and ready to take responsibility as part of a team. They will be self-motivated and able to organise, perform and analyse experiments with minimal instruction. Ideally, they will have several years of previous laboratory experience and be capable of working efficiently and productively without direct supervision. Careful observation and accurate computer-based record-keeping and presentation are essential.
