Research Associate/Assistant (Fixed Term)

Applications are invited for a full-time postdoctoral Research Associate or Research Assistant to work on a
project aimed at the targeted degradation of the protein KRAS in the lab of Prof Laura Itzhaki, Department of
Pharmacology, University of Cambridge.

The project will explore the design of artificial proteins to induce the degradation of KRAS, a primary target for
drug development to treat pancreatic cancers. The work will involve protein engineering, recombinant protein
production, biophysical analysis of the structure and binding functions of the designed proteins, and cell-based
assays of KRAS protein levels and activity. The project is funded by a grant from the Pancreatic Cancer
Research Fund. Applicants should have a first degree or PhD in an area relevant to the project. The key duties
and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: developing research objectives and conducting the
research project, writing up research work for presentation and publication, continually updating knowledge and
understanding in the research field, translating knowledge of advances in the subject area into research activity,
managing own research and administrative activities.

The funds for this post are available for 18 months. The salary range if appointed as a Research Associate is
£32,816 - £40,322 per annum and the salary range if appointed as Research Assistant is £26,715 - £30,942 per
annum with promotion to Research Associate on attainment of PhD if applicable.
