The Postgraduate and Postdoctoral Committee held our first-ever in-house careers event last Monday! This event featured many speakers throughout their professional careers, with many being Department Alumni.
Our speakers were:
- Dr Brendan Swain, Shift Bioscience, Chief Scientific Officer
- Dr Dafne Chirivino, Cambridge Enterprise, Senior BRC IP Associate
- Dr Wenshu Xu, TTP, Life Science Consultant
- Dr Fraser Welsh, AstraZeneca, Executive Director and Head of Projects – Neuroscience R&D
- Dr Ian Fyfe, Nature, Chief Editor – Nature Reviews Gastroenterology & Hepatology
They spoke on their personal experiences, paths to their current position and the lessons learnt throughout their career. Questions were then fielded during a short panel session, where the audience prompted the speakers on topics such as CVs, cold applications and the importance of building a network.
