The Cambridge Lactation Lab (CLL), led by UKRI Future Leaders Fellow Dr Alecia-Jane Twigger (left), is a new research group hosted in the Department of Pharmacology and Biochemistry. The Cambridge Lactation Lab aims to develop innovative lab-grown and computational models of human lactation to study milk production. Working with cutting-edge scientific tools, their mission is to understand how human lactation works. They aim to identify strategies to improve breastfeeding, particularly in women with low supply, to improve the long-term health outcomes of women and children. The lab welcomed its first master’s student, Anna Mullaney (centre), in September and its first postdoc, Gabrielle Oxley (right), in December.
